Dog Treats and Cookies and Natural Dog Soft Treats

Dogs love treats and cookies. You can get your dog to do practically anything in exchange for a treat. To people, it is hard to imagine how dog treats could possibly taste good, but give your dog anything from a biscuit to a liver treat, and he'll be jumping through hoops for you (maybe even literally!)

Natural DogTreats

Many treats, especially biscuits, have fillers like wheat, soy and corn, which may cause allergies. When looking for nutritious dog treats, look for natural dog treats that are made from real meat and freeze-dried, such as liver, beef or chicken treats. Freeze-drying removes moisture and concentrates flavor.

Natural dog soft treats are preferred by some dogs, especially older ones that may have difficulty with their teeth. Natural soft dog treats are moist, easy to chew and digest. They are also easier to break into smaller pieces. You can find a variety of natural dog soft treats on line. Brands include Wholesome Pets and Zukes Mini Naturals. Yuppy Puppy Treat Machine

Dog Treats - Greenies

Greenies are a very popular dog treat, both with dogs as well as their owners. Greenies are toothbrush shaped dog treats with a semi-hard texture that eliminates plaque and makes doggy breath go away. They are high protein, low fat, contain no animal byproducts, preservatives or colors. Greenies are naturally green from the chlorophyll they contain, which is a natural deodorizer, and they are 100% edible. Dogs LOVE them!

Baked Dog Treats and Cookies

When it comes to dog treats, cookies are a popular choice. Dog cookies, that is. There are specialty bakeries that bake gormet dog treats and cookies to order. You can get numerous varieties of gormet dog treat cookies made in different flavors, from peanut butter to cheese or chicken, and formed into fun shapes, colors.

Here is a simple but tasty recipe for peanut butter dog treats:

4 cups whole wheat flour
1/4 cup ground flax seed
1/2 peanut butter
1 cup water

Combine all ingredients and kneed into a ball. The dough should be stiff, not soft and sticky. Adust the amount of water you add as necessary. Roll out and either cut into squares with a knife or into shapes using a cookie cutter. Bake 1 hour at 300 degrees. Turn off oven and leave treats in oven until they are nice and hard.
