Dog Breeds Good with Children

If you have or plan to have children of your own, if you have family with young kids who visit frequently, or lots of younger children in your neighborhood, you are probably seeking a dog breed that is good with children.

Different breeds have different temperaments; some dogs get along fine with children while others are better around adults only. Luckily, you have a great many child-friendly breeds to choose from. Be sure to keep in mind, however, that all children need to learn how to treat dogs. They need to be taught to be gentle! Even the sweetest, kid-friendliest dog can BITE if it feel threatened, or if it is hurt or teased.

List of the Best Dog Breeds for Kids

Below is a list of all AKC recognized breeds. The lefthand column has the most child-friendly breeds. You have so many to choose from you should have no problem finding a good dog for your kids.
