The
Labrador Retriever is good natured, mild mannered and adaptable
and makes a great family pet. It's no wonder he is the number
one breed in popularity. He likes daily exercise and enjoys
playing fetch. He is good with kids and gets along well with
strangers and other animals. Some can be destructive if left
on their own for too long. He responds well to obedience training,
but he needs a firm hand as he can be high spirited and rambunctious.
Physical Features and Grooming
Labrador Retrievers stand approx. 21-24 inches tall and weigh
55-75 pounds. They have short, smooth, dense coats and need
brushing weekly. His coat may be black, yellow or chocolate
brown.
Health Issues
Labrador Retrievers are prone to hip dysplasia, bloat, cataracts
and other eye abnormalities.
