The Beagle is good natured, mild mannered and happy. He likes
to sniff and explore and enjoys daily walks. He is good with
kids and gets along well with strangers. he can be stubborn,
so firm obedience training with lots of praise will be helpful.
Harsh discipline and leash jerking mau cause him to be defensive.
Like other hounds, he barks and bays a lot.
Physical Features and Grooming
Beagles come in two sizes, approx. 10-13 inches tall and
18-20 pounds, and 13-15 inches and 20-30 pounds. They have
smooth, hard coats and need brushing weekly. His coat is a
combination of black, white and tan. His ears hang down.
Health Issues
Beagles are prone to heart disease, blood disorders, epilepsy,
skin conditions, eye problems including glaucoma, and spinal
disc problems.
