The American Foxhound is a very energetic dog that
needs lots of exercise and running. He does best with an owner
who will enjoy exercising and playing games and other activities
with him. Without enough exercise he may become restless and
prone to chewing or other destructive behavior. He is good
with children and generally gets along with other dogs. Some
are reserved around strangers. Since he is a hound, he loves
to sniff and explore. He can be stubborn, hard to train and
may bay or bark a lot.
Physical Features and Grooming:
American Foxhounds are 23-27 inches and weigh 60-80 pounds.
He has a smooth, hard coat in black, white and tan. He needs
occasional brushing. His ears hang down.
Health Issues
American Foxhounds are not prone to any particular problems.
