The American Eskimo dog is happy, high spirited and playful
and enjoys outdoor exercise. He loves to play games and participate
in activities. He is smart and responds well to firm and consistent
training. He is good with strangers and most other dogs. Some
are timid and some can be barkers if not accustomed to noises
and people early on.
Physical Features:
There are three versions: Toys are 9-12 inches and weigh
5-7 pounds. Miniatures are 12-15 inches and weigh 10-20 pounds.
Standards are 15-19 inches and weigh 25-35 pounds. He his
solid white, cream, or a white/cream mix. He has a thick,
medium length, harsh coat, a thick neck ruff (mane), and longer
hair on his chest, stomach, legs and tail. He needs brushing
at least twice weekly, daily when shedding, as his coat mats
easily.
Health Issues
American Eskimo Dogs have no real health issues and generally
live around 15 years.
