All Non Shedding Dogs: Do Non Shedding Dogs Exist?
While there is no
such thing as an all non shedding dog, except for perhaps
the hairless dog breeds such as the Mexican Hairless or American
Hairless, there are a number of dogs that shed very little.
Many of the so-called non-shedding dogs
have hair rather than fur. Some of these dogs don't have much
of an undercoat, but their top coat may be curly or wirely.
A lot of these relatively non shedding dog breeds need to
have their coats clipped, stripped (Terriers for example)
or scissored on a regular basis to avoid matting. Their hair
tends to fall out at a lower rate than higher shedding dogs,
but that does mean they need more grooming.
Whether you get a high shedding breed or
a low shedding dog, we can give you some tips
on controlling shedding.
List of all low and relatively non shedding dog breeds
You have quite a number of low to nearly
non shedding dog breeds to choose from. We have tried to be
comprehensive and list all non shedding dogs, keeping in mind
that we say relatively non shedding because all dogs
will shed at least a little. These dogs shed the least. A number
of these dogs are the result of "designer breeding,"
such as crossing a poodle with a labrador to create a low shedding
"labradoodle."
